This week we worked more on skulls and the different views. In class we studied our drawings and asked questions to the class to find out what we should fix. Looking and comparing my drawings to others I thought that it might be beneficial to start looking at the skull with cross contours. So with that, I began the next 3/4 view with an outline and then continued with cross contours. When I drew the outline I sketched it in with vine charcoal so if i made a mistake it was easily erasable. When I began shading and darkening lines it was a lot easier to see the shadows and curves of the skull with the contour lines. All in all, I believe that this is my best drawing of a skull so far. With adding in the contour lines it enhanced my shading and detail abilities.

This week we focused on the skull. It had been quite some time since I last studies the skull. After about half way through drawing the first view I began to remember some of basics of drawing it. I remembered that the cranium is 2/3 of the skull. I tried to portion it evenly on either side. After I drew in the basic outlines I began to darken some lines and create value. I think these drawings are mostly successful. Comparing them to the ones we did in ld1, I think I did a way better job understanding the shape and value of a skull. Still again I think the front view is the more difficult view. As you can see, I didn't finish it yet. I'm still working on it. When I finish it I will post it right away.

Hey, my name is Jessica Sumption. I'm currently a junior at Stout. I'm a double art major studying graphic and multimedia design. I enjoy both areas very much. Although I think I'm gonna drop graphic design and just stick with multimedia. I really want to focus on animation. My dream career would be to work for Pixar...but any animation studio is fine with me I guess. My main areas of interest with animation is character modeling, drawing/ideation of the characters and the interaction with the computer aspect.
